
Iheanyi Onwuegbucha

Iheanyi Onwuegbucha b. 1990 in Nigeria, is curator and art historian. He is currently a PhD student in the Art and Archaeology Department at Princeton University. He was Artistic Director of the Centre for Contemporary Arts, Lagos (CCA, Lagos) and a 2016 Chevening Scholar at the University of Leeds where he studied Art Gallery and Museum Studies.
His current curatorial project “Archiving the Archive”, includes a long-term research and documentation of curatorial archives in Africa. Recent curatorial projects include: “Diaspora at Home” (CCA, Lagos and Kadist Paris), “Layers” (Labanque, Bethune, France) and “Ozioma Onuzulike: Seed Yams of Our Land” (CCA, Lagos). Others are: “LineGuage: Textual Imagery | Liner Allegories”, “Ngozi Omeje: Connecting Deep” and co-curated with Bisi Silva at CCA, Lagos.
His recently published critical essays include ‘Now, What Next: On Asiko Curatorial Platform’, in Condition Report III: Art History and Africa (Dakar: RAW Material Company) and ‘The Village Square Museum’, in The Museum of the Future. 43 New Contributions to the Discussion about the Future of the Museum, edited by Schnittpunkt. His current research interest includes post-civil war art in Eastern Nigeria. His other research interests include female modernists artists in post-colonial Nigeria and inclusive museums for Africa.
João Simões

João Simões, b. 1979 in Brazil, lives and works in São Paolo (BR), works as an artist, curator, researcher and teacher. Together with Cláudio Bueno, he founded the platform Explode! Through a cultural and artistic practice that is often perceived as peripheral, he explores ideas of gender, race and class while touching upon areas such as education, town planning and social justice. Simões is a member of the study group Extremidades, which deals with audiovisual networks, film, performance and contemporary art. As curator, speaker or performer, he has appeared in the following intitutions: Sesc-SP, CCBB-SP, Paço das Artes, MASP, CUNY, ICA-Capetown and PUC-SP. With Concidência/Pro Helvetia, is a collaborator of Live Arts Workshop program. He is also member of 01.01 Art Platform, that offers a more conscious and sustainable way of acquiring contemporary art, focusing on African and African Diaspora´s production.
